Mrs Nigeria/Mrs Tourism United Nations World 2015 resolute on touching lives

Beautiful mother of 3, Ebelechukwu Enemchukwu is indeed providing inspiration, and putting smiles on many faces as she embarks on several charity works in her capacity as both National and International Queen.

Only a few months ago, Ebelechukwu emerged Mrs. Nigeria United Nations 2015, and went ahead to represent Nigeria on the world stage in Kingston, Jamaica, where she clinched the Mrs. Tourism United Nations World title, as well as the award for the People's Choice Ambassador.

In line with her pledge to dedicate her year of reign (and beyond) towards impacting lives positively, Mrs. Nigeria / Tourism United Nations 2015 on October 8, carried out yet another charity project at one of the public primary schools in Lagos, Nigeria, The Sangotedo Nursery and Primary School.

This was following the 'Needs Analysis' conducted prior to her scheduled visit which revealed the disturbing fact that there were children who came to school bare feet, or with tattered/no school uniform, or without bags. Some had stayed away from school for some of these reasons.
Among items distributed were school bags of varying sizes (in accordance with each recipient's class), pairs of school sandals, school uniforms, and goodie bags.
Like Mrs.Nigeria United Nations said during her visit to the Friends Of Jesus Orphanage weeks ago, we need neither Crowns nor Sashes to engage in acts of humanitarianism. She reiterated same words when she delivered a lecture on "Achieving Your Dreams" marking Nigeria’s 55th Independence at the Edidot Schools, Awoyaya.
True, we may never be able to sort out all the issues that abound,  but we can sure make a difference. In her humble submission, that's all that really matters!

Child bride married at just 11 months old in India finally wins her freedom

An Indian child bride who was married at just 11 months old has finally had her marriage annulled.
Santadevi Meghwal, 19, from Jodhpur, in the western state of Rajasthan, in India - infamous for child marriages - was finally awarded the annulment by the Family Court, in Jodhpur, at 3pm yesterday.
Santadevi was told two years ago that she was married to Saanval Ram, 28, who was nine-years-old at the time of their wedding.

But as soon as she tried to annul her marriage she was fined £16,000 and banished from her community.
With the help of a charity and child marriage activist she went against her community and has finally won her life back.
Santadevi said:"I did not believe in this marriage and I was determined to fight for my freedom and break free. "I was not going to give up. "This is a wonderful day for me."
Santadevi, who now dreams of becoming a teacher, approached a family court on May 13 this year to request the annulment.
But as soon as her ‘husband' and his family heard about it they reported her to the Panchyat, a self-government organization.
It fined Santadevi and her family £16,000 and banned them from the community for going against the age-old tradition.
But Santadevi was undeterred by the penalty and was determined to annul her childhood marriage.
"It’s appalling that my marriage was hidden from me all these years," she said. "I only came to know when my village elders told my father to send me to my in-laws.
"At first I couldn’t digest the fact but it was the truth and my parents told me to accept it as my fate.
"I was not going to sit back and have my life taken away from me. I refused, and kept on giving excuses and refused to go to my in-laws house but the pressure built, I was threatened and told I’d be forcibly taken.
"That’s when I approached Saarthi Trust."
Saarthi Trust is a children’s rights group founded by child marriage campaigner Kriti Bharti, 26, and this is now her 29th child marriage annulment in India.
The charity was responsible for helping the first girl in India - Laxmi Sargara - to annul her child marriage in 2012 and since then they have helped to annul 27 child marriages.
But that number is always growing.
Kriti said: "I’m over the moon Santadevi has won her freedom.
"It’s my dream to eradicate child marriage from India forever, and this is just another girl’s life I have helped to save.
‘Santadevi approached me in April and I didn’t hesitate to help her. "I immediately started giving her parents some counselling and advice.
"Parents are generally apprehensive about going down such roads because of the humiliation and the consequences of being ostracized from the community.
"But thankfully Santadevi’s father finally supported her."
A census in 2011 revealed that 1.6 million children were married between 2000 and 2010 in Rajasthan.

Even though the marriage of a girl under 18 and a boy under 21 is prohibited and the practice of child marriage has been illegal since 1929, India’s rural patriarchal society means many families in Rajasthan still follow the practice.

Kriti has recently won a scholarship with the Trust Women Conference, and will be in London, next month, to help international campaigners empower women worldwide and fight modern-day slavery.

Dead man is the guest of honour at his own wake-keep (photos)

That is a dead man you are looking at in that blue track suit. A man who was shot dead days after his 23rd birthday attended his wake keep dressed in blue tracksuit, baseball cap and sunglasses. He was shot in his mother's bar in Puerto Rico so she decided to give him a fitting send off. His body was dressed and propped up on a table in his favorite corner and made to look like he was playing cards and drinking as normal. More photos after the cut...

Photos: Abuja residents protest non-inclusion in Ministerial list

Gbagyi community members in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja yesterday staged a peaceful protest in front of the National Assembly expressing their disappointment at the non inclusion of an Abuja indigine in the ministerial list. Dressed in their traditional attire, the protesters called on President Buhari to have a rethink and include them in government appointments.

"We are here to say we have been marginalized beyond what we can bear. We can not sit down and people come from all over the country to rule us as ministers. So we should have a minister like every other state. Also, we need a second tier government that will cater for the needs of the indigenes. Why we are here is because we don’t have our own House of Assembly. The National Assembly is our House of Assembly. It should not be. How can an Abaji resident reach Ask Rock Villa to complain. We should have a government that is closer to us, which is for the people and by the people. If our parents have endured this suffering for 39 years, we younger generation are saying no,” ” the leader of the group, Ezekiel Balatu, said

Man has Epic comeback for cheating ex with bad grammar at the end of a convo

An Imgur user who goes by Aronaf has earned a whole lot kudos online for his response to an ex-girlfriend who tried various unsuccessful tactics to get him to reconcile with her via text message.
It is unclear if the Imgur user, who lives in Huntington Beach, California, actually participated in the text exchange or rather posted someone else's conversation on the photo-sharing site.

The text messages include Sean and a girl nicknamed 'CheatingWh***' in his contacts. The couple had been together for five years, and had even been engaged, but Sean ended up dumping her because the girl had slept with someone else.
Though she'd been apologizing for three years, Sean was unable to forgive her for her infidelity - which the ex-girlfriend had a hard time understanding. Read the convo below..

The ex continues to rant, eventually getting a response out of Sean when she uses 'their' instead of 'there' in a sentence. The messages have since been deleted from Imgur but not before they were captured.

Photos: Canada has a new Prime Minister, he's tall, fine and only 43 years old

Justin Trudeau Trudeau's election represents not just a change from almost 10 years of Conservative rule under Stephen Harper, but an almost unprecedented reversal of fortune for a Liberal Party that was nearly left for dead after the 2011 general election.
Justin Trudeau, the son of late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, became Canada's new prime minister after his Liberal Party won a majority of Parliament's 338 seats on Monday.
Trudeau is tall, 6'2 and trim and at 43, channels the star power, if not quite the political heft, of his father, who swept to power in 1968 as the Prime Minister.
His late father, who took office in 1968 and led Canada for most of the next 16 years, is a storied name in Canadian history, responsible for the country's version of the bill of rights.
His father, Pierre Trudeau, who was prime minister until 1984 with a short interruption, remains one of the few Canadian politicians known in America, his charisma often drawing comparisons to John F. Kennedy. His father was a bachelor when he became prime minister, he dated actresses Barbra Streisand and Kim Cattrall.
Justin Trudeau, a former school teacher and member of Parliament since 2008, becomes the second youngest prime minister in Canadian history.
Trudeau, who has re-energized the Liberal Party since its devastating electoral losses four years ago, promises to raise taxes on the rich and run deficits for three years to boost government spending.
Justin is married  to Sophie Grégoire with 3 kids. Trudeau first met Sophie Grégoire when they were both children growing up in Montreal, as Grégoire was a classmate and childhood friend of Trudeau's youngest brother, Michel.
They reconnected as adults in June 2003, when Grégoire, by then a Quebec television personality, was assigned as Trudeau's co-host for a charity ball; they began dating several months later.
Trudeau and Grégoire became engaged in October 2004 and married on May 28, 2005, in a Catholic ceremony at Montreal's Sainte-Madeleine d'Outremont Church.
They have three children: daughter Ella-Grace Margaret (born February 2009) and sons Xavier James (born October 2007) and Hadrien (born February 2014)

Saudi Prince's sexual assault case passed to LA city attorney after the case was initially dropped

A Saudi Arabian prince, Prince Majed bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,  revealed yesterday to be the son of the late King Abdullah,is accused of a having sexual relationship with a male aide, taking cocaine and threatening to kill women who refused his advances - as well as sexually assaulting a maid according to an exclusive report by Daily Mail Online.
The Prince now faces a series of allegations in a civil case brought by three female staff members of his Los Angeles mansion.
Court documents seen by Daily Mail Online disclose how he is accused of being drunk and high at his $37 million mansion in Beverly Hills and repeatedly making unwanted sexual advances.
The documents were filed by lawyers acting for three female employees of Al Saud.
They include a claim that the royal attempted to urinate on the trio while screaming: 'I want to pee pee'.

He also threatened to kill one of the women if she refused to 'party' with him and jumped on top of another and began rubbing himself against her in a 'sexual and aggressive manner'.
When asked to stop, Al Saud allegedly then yelled:
'I am a prince and I do what I want. You are nobody!'
All three of the women claim to have seen the royal having his penis 'stroked' by a male aide and say they were forced to stay in the room and watch as the encounter unfolded.

Homosexuality is illegal in Saudi Arabia, and punishable by flogging, or even execution.

Another says she was made to watch while a different male aide bent over and farted in Al Saud's face, apparently at his request.

The revelations about Prince Majed come a day after it was revealed that Los Angeles District Attorney has decided to drop felony charges against the 29-year-old due to lack of evidence.

Instead, the case has been passed to LA city attorney Mike Feur who will now decide whether to pursue misdemeanor charges – which could lead to a year in jail and a $3,000 fine should he be convicted.
But lawyers for the women bringing the civil case say they are determined to succeed.
The women, all of whom are married with children, say they still have not been paid by the prince and are hoping to recover their lost earnings.

The women's claims stem from a period between September 21 and September 25 when Al Saud was arrested and all took place at the Wallingford Drive mansion.
