President Muhammadu Buhari has submitted names of his ministerial nominees to the Senate, presidency sources told Daily Trust last night.
Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, submitted the names to the upper chamber yesterday, the sources said on condition of anonymity.
Nigerians have been waiting since May 29 for Buhari to appoint his ministers, but the President had asked them to be patient saying he needed time to assemble the best people into the ministerial positions.
The delay had drawn a lot of criticism and endless speculations among Nigerians.
Many Senators contacted yesterday about the nominees told Daily Trust they would prefer not to comment since they did not know the content of the message delivered by Senator Enang.
But sources suggested yesterday that those likely to make it into Buhari’s cabinet are those that have been seen regularly with him in recent weeks, either in Nigeria or on his foreign trips.
“Going by that postulation,’ the sources said, “one can safely say that former Ekiti state governor Kayode Fayemi would make it.”
One of our sources said those who could make it are former Chief of Army Staff, Abdurrahman Dambazau, former CBN governor Charles Soludo, and three former governors from the south.
A former House of Representatives member, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, are among those believed to be included in the list of nominees.
Oyinlola was said to have been nominated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He was a former national secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who later decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Whatever the case everything will be clear as the Senate resumes sitting today,” the source said.
Daily Trust reports that Buhari had at various times promised to name his cabinet in September.

Porsche responds to wrongful death lawsuit filed by Paul Walker's daughter Meadow

Porsche has responded to Meadow Walker's wrongful death lawsuit, which claimed her father’s tragic death was due to design flaws with the car he was in.
Lawyers for 16 year old Meadow Walker, claim her Dad survived the impact of the crash but suffered horrifically when he was helplessly trapped inside the 2005 Carrera GT when it burst into flames.

According to the lawsuit, when the car crashed and broke apart the seat belt “snapped Walker’s torso back with thousands of pounds of force, thereby breaking his ribs and pelvis."
The suit claims the actor was trapped inside the car and was still alive when the fire broke out 1 minute and 20 seconds after it hit the tree.

"Paul Walker breathed soot into his trachea while the Porsche Carrera GT burned,” it alleges.
"The bottom line is that the Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn't belong on the street. And we shouldn't be without Paul Walker or his friend, Roger Rodas," the teen's lawyer
Responding to the claims on Tuesday, Porsche said in a statement:
"As we have said before, we are very sad whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities' reports in this case clearly establish that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed."
Law enforcement officials said at the time the car was going 80 to 93 MPH

But Really, Who is a Successful Woman? #TheWAwards

Who is a successful woman? While we have our own individual definitions of what success is or is not, society tries to push at us what success is, especially when it pertains to the feminine gender. For example, in several places in Africa, it is not uncommon to say that a woman that has achieved a lot in her business and career and winds up being unmarried at 50, is an unsuccessful woman.

Is this the truth? Well, success is a relative variable and can only be measured with the goal-setter’s scales.
Here’s what the first Female Helicopter Captain in Nigeria, a doctor that tends open-heart surgery patients, and other spectacular women think.
When you’re done, look around you again, you will find numerous women who qualify as successful. Whoever and wherever she is, as long as she is inspiring a lot of people, she deserves to be recognized and celebrated. And you can make that happen by nominating her for a W Award. All you need to do is go to www.thewawards.com, pick a category, nominate her, then ask your family members, neighbors, friends and enemies to nominate her too.
It’s not just to say she is your WCW, The W initiative powered by Access Bank is asking you to put your words into action! Nominate that woman who inspires you.

Stranger's act of kindness towards new mom with crying baby on a plane goes viral

When Rebekka Garvison boarded her flight with a newborn baby from Chicago to Atlanta last week, her fear of being judged became a reality.
Garvison noted how quiet the flight was when she got on. She took her seat next to a couple who did not look happy that her baby Rylee would be sitting with them. Already stressed out from traveling, Rylee started crying immediately.

 Rebekka Garvison

To avoid any issues, she moved two rows ahead where there were two empty seats instead of one. This way, Garvison would have more room to tend to her baby.

As Rylee continued to cry despite her mother's efforts to calm her, the woman in the seat next to her, Nyfesha Miller, asked if she could try calming the baby.

As soon as Miller held Rylee in her arms, the little one stopped crying. By the time the flight took off, she was sound asleep in the stranger's arms. Miller even carried her off the flight so Gavin could get all of her belongings together. Miller said "it wasn't a problem."

Gavin was so thankful to Miller that she shared her appreciation in a Facebook status. The grateful mother openly told Miller that she will "never understand how happy this act of kindness has made my family. You could have just rolled your eyes and been irritated like everyone else, but you took her and held her the entire flight and let me get some rest and peace of mind."

Woman posted selfie of her boyfriend pointing a gun on social media hours before he allegedly shot her dead

According to the police, 21-year-old Stephanie Hernandez posted one picture of a gun and ammo in her Little Rock home and also sent a Snapchat photo showing her smiling at the camera while her boyfriend, Rafael Gonzalez, holds a gun behind her head. "Strap Chat," the caption said, punning a slang term for carrying a gun. A few hours later, she died by the same gun...

That night, the mother of a 3-year-old and an 8-month-old daughter, was found dead from a gunshot wound in her house. Police found the home ransacked, with blood all over a floor. Gonzalez, 20, was arrested the next day and and charged for first-degree murder, police said.

It’s unclear what led to Gonzalez allegedly shooting his girlfriend. Hernandez’s daughters were with relatives when the shooting happened, her friends said. Hernandez’s family members were horrified to see the pictures she had taken, not knowing they would be her last...

"I guess they were loaded. In her back — it is just mind-blowing. I don’t understand how anybody could do that." Hernandez's uncle Rey Hernadez told KATV.

Now they’re left to explain to Hernandez’s little girls what happened.
"My nieces have been crying all night," Hernandez’s sister Camryn Startz told KATV. "I haven't told my 3-year-old niece anything yet. She knows something is wrong because she wants her mom."

Relatives said Hernandez had just moved into a new home weeks ago and was supposed to start a job Monday morning. One friend, Jaquinlan Davis, told KATV Hernandez’s boyfriend was “a bad influence” and the two had a rocky, on-and-off relationship
